Cause helps African children

NEEDY children in Sierra Leone have been given a helping hand by a charity in Angmering.

Education West Africa (EWA), based in High Street, has just returned from a trip to the African country.

The organisation was supporting two projects, one to provide new classroom furniture for schools and another to give uniforms to children who cannot afford one and cannot attend school because of this.

Penelope Sharman, chairman of EWA said: “Each year since 2010, when the charity was established, we have returned to Sierra Leone to check on how the funds raised have been used.”

She added she was ‘delighted’ at how well the project had been received. It has helped to improve the lives of about 2,000 children.
