CBeebies visit Battle Abbey nursery

Children at Battle Abbey Prep School Nursery were in for a treat when three CBeebies presenters and a film crew visited.

The children were selected to be filmed for a new programme called Eco Beebies which will be shown later in the month.

The nursery staff and children have spent the past year cultivating their garden and encouraging wildlife which attracted the attention of the BBC. While the children helped presenters, Chris, Sid and Pui with various activities around the garden, they talked about what they had been doing and how other children could do the same in their own gardens at home. Following the visit the producer wrote to the nursery saying how impressed the whole team had been by the children and commented: "They were full of opinions and very knowledgeable about environmental issues."

She went on to say that she found this "quite remarkable" and "a great reflection" on the nursery's standards.

Manager Alison Martin said: "I was thrilled by the children's response to the filming. This was a lovely way to celebrate and acknowledge the efforts of the children and staff. They have created a real and positive space that promotes learning, nurturing and environmental awareness."
