All teachers, teaching assistants and support team members will take part in teams and steps will be recorded via pedometers that have been funded by the Active Hastings Workplace Grant.

Anita Woodward-Benn, from the school, said: “We are thankful to both Tesco (Churchwood Drive) and Freedom Leisure (Summerfields Leisure Centre) for providing weekly prizes for the teams and individuals.

“Tesco are supplying a fruit and vegetable basket and Summerfields have given us some weekly passes to access the gym/classes/swimming and sauna sessions.

“In addition, the pupils of Robsack Wood Primary Academy are inspiring us by creating certificates to present to the team members throughout the challenge. Please do keep encouraging us all via social media: #RobsackToRio.”

She added: “The ‘Robsack to Rio’ challenge is the first part of our Healthy Lifestyles project which aims to improve the overall health profile of our community.

“Our key objectives are to reduce obesity and increase the emotional wellbeing of our pupils.

“Over the next few months we will be: providing free fitness and Pilates classes for parents, carers and pupils; participating in the Walk To School Week; giving free first aid training for parents; and undertaking team training in mindfulness and resilience.

“We will also be increasing road safety awareness; offering healthy food workshops; introducing free baby/toddler groups and conducting oral health assemblies.
