Chance to apply for the best job this summertime

LIFEGUARDS are to start patrolling two beaches along Bognor Regis seafront this summer.

The RNLI has begun recruiting for what it calls the best summer job in Sussex.

The lifesaving charity wants to hear from individuals who want to make a difference on the town’s beaches east and west of the pier.

RNLI lifeguard manager Rory Smith said: “Of course, it’s incredible to be able to call the beach your office but, far more importantly than that, you could save a life this summer.

“And the skills you’ll learn will benefit you for the rest of your life.

“But, make no mistake. This is a demanding job requiring commitment, dependability and a
clear head.”

Candidates will need to prove they are courageous, selfless, trustworthy and dependable.

In return, they will receive world-class training in search and rescue, lifesaving and casualty care techniques and boost their CV’s with invaluable skills that will wow employers.

They will also be trained to use equipment such as defibrillators, rescue tubes and hand-held radios.

Those who apply must be aged at least 16, fit
and healthy, strong swimmers and want to do something extraordinary this summer.

They must also hold a recognised beach lifeguard qualification. A course to be held by the RNLI will enable this to be achieved.

The cost is £120. More details from James

They responded to more than 19,500 incidents last year and helped almost 22,000 people.

The online application process opened at the start of the month.
