Chance to learn more about rail

MODEL railway fans will be holding an informal open day in Pagham.

Members of the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association South Downs Area Group will stage their first discovery day from 10.30am-4pm on July 6 at the Pagham Church Centre on Nyetimber Lane.

The day is for anyone interested in learning more of the art and craft of building and running a model railway.

Layouts will be available to view and play with and various demonstrations will take place.

Organiser Richard Rundle said it would follow the group’s busiest annual exhibition.

“We decided following our successful show in May we’d like to do something a bit different,” he said.

“We settled on the idea of an informal event rather than a traditional exhibition.”

The group welcomed about 350 people to its exhibition in Felpham. This was the best attendance in the show’s five years.

Some £200 was raised for Bognor Regis-based 4Sight on the day to take the total raised for charities to £1,000.
