'˜Change your journey to work' warns Southeastern

Train passengers heading to London from 1066 Country at the end of the month are being warned they will be facing disruption to their journeys.

As part of the continuing Thameslink Programme work, Network Rail needs to close Cannon Street station at the end of August.

Other stations on the Hastings to London line, including London Bridge, will also be affected.

On Saturday August 27 and Sunday August 28, there will be no Southeastern services at Charing Cross, Waterloo East, Cannon Street or London Bridge stations.

Instead trains will be diverted to Victoria, Blackfriars and New Cross.

Buses will replace trains at Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill and Westcombe Park stations.

On Monday August 29 through to Thursday September 1, there will be no Southeastern services at Cannon Street.

In a statement, the train operator said: “This includes three normal working days – Tuesday 30, Wednesday 31 August and Thursday 1 September.

“We strongly recommend you consider changing your normal journey to work on these three days.

“We will not be able to run as many trains as normal and our services will be very busy.”

Ticket will be accepted on alternative bus, Tube and DLR routes.
