Changes may be made to Horsham's trial pedestrianisation scheme

CHANGES may be made to the pilot pedestrians-only scheme in Horsham's East Street and Market Place.

The 18-month trial bans traffic between 10.30am and 4pm, and also restricts loading and unloading, as well as parking.

Now highways experts have recommended the times should be changed from 11am to 3pm and that there should be an easing of the loading/unloading and parking restrictions. Two new parking bays should also be provided in East Street for disabled drivers.

Brad Watson, chairman of the North Horsham local committee, said: "The revised proposals have been developed after careful consideration of comments received about the pedestrianisation pilot and following a number of meetings with interested parties.

"This is an opportunity for local residents to share their views about this scheme with the committee. The scheme was introduced with the aim of boosting business for local traders."

The recommendations will be discussed at the next meeting of the committee on Monday March 2 The Forest Business Centre, The Forest School, Comptons Lane, Horsham, at 7.30pm.
