Charity premiere for Picturedrome

Tickets are selling fast for the first film premiere in Bognor Regis for almost 100 years.

More than 125 seats have been snapped up so far for the chance to see Stardust, starring Robert de Niro, Charlie Cox, Sienna Miller and Clare Danes '“ before anyone else in West Sussex.

The big screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's best-selling book is being premiered at the Picturedrome Cinema on October 12 in a special charity screening.

Doors open at 7pm when musician and composer Peter Morgan will entertain filmgoers for an hour by playing favourite tunes on an organ specially brought into the cinema.

Ticket holders will know their presence is benefiting three worthwhile charities '“ the Friends of Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital, Bognor Regis Lions Club and Sammy Community Transport.

A raffle in aid of St Wilfrid's Hospice is growing bigger by the day. Prizes range from a first class day out at Fontwell Park to a free MOT and a half-price website design.

Tickets priced 8 each are on sale from the Picturedrome box office and Lions Club members.

Smart dress is not compulsory for the big night but it is hoped that most people will join in the spirit of the occasion.

Cinema general manager Chris Allsopp said: 'It should be a really special occasion. We should be able to present the money to the charities there and then.'

The last time the Picturedrome could boast a premiere was on its opening night of June 15, 1919, when Boundary House was the attraction.
