Cheers to The Robin Hood

THE Robin Hood pub at Icklesham celebrated its success at being named Pub of the Year.

The popular community local was given the prestigious award by the South East Sussex branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) who labelled it “a beacon for the community”.

The Robin Hood, run by Mick and Sue Darcy, has raised thousands of pounds for charity and community causes over the years by holding boot sales and a big annual bonfire night event.

The pub, which dates from 1607, supports local breweries and also has an ever changing range of guest beers from independent craft brewers.

It also has a good reputation for its home-cooked food.

Mike Benner, from CAMRA, said: “Pubs like this are the beating hearts of communities and society would be worse off without them.”

The Robin Hood is currently making plans for its big beer festival in July which attracts real ale lovers from all over the county.
