The Arundel CofE Primary School, in Jarvis Road, has this month been hailed by the Rt Rev, Martin Warner for its inspirational religious education, which has fostered students’ own ethical values, and caused them to flourish.

The bishop presented the school with the Bishop’s Commendation award – one of only four to be given out by the religious leader across the entire county, this year.

The school’s head teacher, Andrew Simpson, said: “This is an incredible honour.

“This year the theme was focused on values – trust, forgiveness, wisdom, hope and respect.

“We created a website with the values on which has been a real success, pupils made it their own.

“We also did study in the school to see how they responded to these values.”

Mr Simpson added: “Of course good grades are important, but school should really be a place where children learn cultural values, too.”
