Chichester College students cook up special menu for Avisford Park

Gordon Ramsay could have just met his match after a group of business students from Chichester College had their ideas for a menu taken on by one of the area's top hotels.

Manager of the Hilton Avisford Park Hotel, Darren Walsh was so impressed with the students’ assessment of the market for Sunday lunch that he decided to put all their suggestions into practice and as a reward, invited them to the hotel for a slap-up meal.

Kirsten Berry, Patrick Ingham, Abdul Munim, and James Redman who are in the second year of business decision making, met Mr Walsh last September after their lecturer Sandy Hood decided their project should be based on a real scenario.

They were asked to look at the most appropriate items to put on the menu, ways to promote it and the style of service which Sunday lunch customers would like.

During the six-week project they used a number of methods including surveys and visiting other venues to see how the hotel’s Sunday lunch menu could fit into the market.
