Chichester Harbour’s landscape is to be protected

Chichester Harbour is set to work more closely with national organisations to ensure it continues to be a treasured landscape.

An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the harbour is one of a family of protected landscapes throughout the country.

It has now signed an accord with the National Association for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (NAAONB) and National Parks England (NPE).

The aim of the partnership is ‘to secure investment, protect sources of funding and promote the benefits to the wider public of protecting these areas’.

Chairman of Chichester Harbour Conservancy, Roger Price said: “We welcome this national commitment to work together.

“Locally, we aim to strengthen our relationships with other AONBs and national parks in the south.

“The joint accord will help to raise the profile of these special places that all face similar environmental and financial challenges.”
