Child seriously injured in car crash

A BATTLE woman was involved in a car crash in Bexhill on Saturday, May 19, which has left a little girl in a coma.

The seven-year-old suffered serious head injuries when she and a car were in collision on the A269 London Road, Bexhill, at 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

The girl, from Heathfield, sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London.

The girl’s condition has been changed from ‘critical’ to ‘serious but stable’, but she remains in a coma.

The vehicle involved in the accident was a red Vauxhall Astra, driven by a 27-year-old woman from Battle and travelling south towards Bexhill town centre.

It is thought the girl had got out of a parked car and was then in collision with the oncoming vehicle. The driver was not injured.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Sussex Police by calling 101, quoting Operation Cicero.
