Childminder is rated outstanding

A Felpham childminder has been recognised for providing a home from home for the young children in her care.

Christina Riseborough has received a rare outstanding rating from Ofsted for her work as the owner and manager of Little Toads pre-school.

She runs the business for 16 children in the mornings from dedicated rooms in her house in South Drive.

She is also a registered childminder for three children in the afternoon.

A recent inspection by Ofsted of her facilities and work with the youngsters, aged between two and five, led to her being awarded grade one status.

To achieve that, the early years provider must show sound and secure knowledge and understanding of childcare, learning and development.

It applies to exceptional provision with exemplary standards of care that are highly effective at ensuring children make significant progress.

Mrs Riseborough said: "I am absolutely delighted by the outcome of my Ofsted inspection.

"It's very unusual that an outstanding rating is given out but the inspector was pleased with what she found."

She has worked in providing early years care since the birth of her son nine years ago.

She became a registered childminder before she started the pre-school.
