Children empowered by focus on anti-bullying

Glebe Primary School, in Church Lane, held the day as part of National Anti-Bullying Week.

Throughout the day, the children took part in a variety of activities, including raps, artwork, drama and discussions on what ‘bullying’ actually is.

Alli Godfrey, upper key stage two leader, explained: “We identified various forms of bullying, relevant to their age group, including cyber-bullying, mobile phone bullying and physical and emotional bullying.”

Theatre group Trap Media took a lead role in play activities, to raise awareness of how to find constructive solutions and highlight sources of help in a bullying situation.

Mrs Godfrey added: “To enhance their experience even more, children were asked to wear red clothes to symbolise ‘STOP BULLYING NOW!’.

“Children cannot be too aware of the effects of bullying. It was a thought-provoking, yet enjoyable day which left the children feeling more empowered.”
