Pupils were told by an ‘egg expert’ that the egg could possibly belong to a reptile.

Chris Davis, the reptile man from Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust, came to visit the school and brought with him a scaly array of friends.

The children were able to hold and touch many different reptiles including a corn snake, lizard and a bearded dragon.

Kenya Class teacher, Debbie Gilpin, said: “The children were delighted and excited to have first-hand experience of handling these creatures. The children loved it, some were very interested but others were quite nervous of the reptiles.

“We had been looking at pictures of different reptiles so it was very exciting for them to see the real things.

“Chris told us some really interesting facts.

“For instance, an iguana is actually not a suitable pet as it grows far too big.

“He also spoke generally about British reptiles and how we care for them.”
