Christmas recorder concert takes placeat Old Town church

The concert is being performed by the Fipple Consort and takes place from 1pm - 2pm.

The Fipple Consort is comprised of seven players playing music specifically arranged for the recorder family.

Their instruments range from soprano to bass recorders.

The recorder ensemble will play a variety of music, including pieces written by King Henry VIII, as well at French, Czech and Yugoslavian dance tunes.

The concert also features well known pieces from the Nutcracker Suite and contemporary items, including Scott Joplin.

All the music has been specifically arranged for recorders.

St Clements Church is situated at the George Street end of the High Street.

St Clement’s is one of the oldest buildings in Hastings. It was built in 1380, on the site of an earlier St Clement’s Church, burned down by the French in 1377.

The interior has been recently transformed following a £1 million legacy.
