Church on the market for £1million

A WORTHING church has gone on the market with a price-tag of £1million.

The former United Reformed Church, in Shelley Road, was built in 1903, and has many fine achitectural features.

Agents Michael Jones & Co say it is possible that some adjoining properties may be made available by separate negotiation - and, if this is so, it could lead to a major development for the area.

But there will be a covenant placed on the building preventing new owners from opening licensed premises, gaming establishments or like businesses there.

The main church covers about 3,000sq ft and extends 34ft into the roof ridge. There's a church hall, flower room, minister's office, choir room, choir parlour, further meeting rooms, kitchen and a classroom. The entire church extends more than 9,000 sq ft.

The car park would hold 14 vehicles and there's a cycle store.

Offers are invited for the freehold, with a May 20 deadline.
