The Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) ‘Getting Ready to Learn, Volunteer and Work’ event is now in its sixth year.

Around 125 people took part in the event on January 9, which offers opportunities for work and learning, including 38 service providers for the homeless.

Held in the city centre, the event is organised as part of BHT’s Accommodation for Work project.

The project provides temporary accommodation for local single people who are homeless but actively involved in work or learning.

Anna Muten, training and development co-ordinator for BHT’s Accommodation for Work project said: “This event offers a great opportunity for attendees to learn about local opportunities to suit a huge variety of needs, interests and aspirations.

Participants told us they really valued having such a variety of work, learning and well-being skills providers in one place, and said the friendly and relaxed atmosphere made it very accessible.

“They also enjoyed the free food on offer in the café provided by BHT’s social enterprise, Dine, live music from Evolve’s music group and the much-loved therapy dogs.

“We were pleased it was such a positive success and are already looking forward to our next event in summer 2020!”
