Classic cars set tomake a return to Rye this month

EYE-CATCHING classic cars are set to turn heads in Rye again this month when the annual Classic Car cruise takes place.

Rye will be filled with the sound of 1950’s and 60’s V8 engines on Sunday November 17 as a procession of classic vehicles drive around the town.

The cars will leave Camber Sands about 2.30pm and drive in convoy to Rye where they will cruise twice through the town’s narrow streets before making for the station car park where you can take a closer look at these very special and rare machines.

There are six prize categories including “Best Pre-65 American, Best Hot Rod and The Mayors Choice. The prizes which consist of specially commissioned hand painted plates made by Romney Marsh Ceramics and sponsored by Rye Chamber of Commerce, Rye Hotels and Caterers Association and Rye Marketing Group will be presented by the Deputy Mayor of Rye Cllr Berni Fiddimore at about 3.30pm.

Organiser Frank May said: “Don’t forget to bring your cameras and cam-corders.”

The event, which has ben running for more than a decade, is a popular date on the town’s winter calendar.
