Classic cars will beforming a parade through Rye centre

DOZENS of eye catching classic and vintage cars will be turning heads in Rye this Sunday when they take part in a colourful cavalcade through the streets.

The Rye Classic Car Cruise has been organised each year by Frank May, of Rye Chamber of Commerce and is now a popular annual event, attracting enthusiasts from all over the south east.

The 1950’s and 1960’s vegicles are attending the Rhythm Riot event at Camber Sands.

The cars will leave Camber Sands at around 2.30pm and drive in convoy to Rye where they will cruise through the towns narrow streets before making for the station car park where you can take a closer look at these very special and rare machines.

There are six prize categories including “Best Pre-65 American, Best Hot Rod and The Mayor’s Choice.

The prizes which consist of specially commissioned hand painted plates, made by Romney Marsh Ceramics and sponsored by Rye Chamber of Commerce and Rye Hotels and Caterers Association, will be presented by the mayor of Rye Cllr John Shaun Rogers at about 3.30pm.

Frank May said: “Don’t forget to bring your cameras.”
