Classics cruise in for annual show

The show attracts a large selection of rare cars from the turn of the century until 1970.

Informed commentary is provided in the main ring on the various vehicles.

Chris Hone, from Hooe Old Motor Club, said: “The early inclement weather probably prevented some of the older roadworthy museum pieces from attending, but there was overwhelming support from the not so old cars, cars that are not normally seen at other shows.

“Music from Hooe’s Village Silver band started the proceedings followed by displays of some of the exhibits, both cars and motorcycles in the arena introduced by the Chairman, Ron Wanmer.

“Donations were made to representatives of various charities as a preview to the traditional Lady and Car competition in which ladies dress to match the age and spirit of the car.

“Major donations were made to “Talking Pages”, a division of the RNIB; the 1066 Specials, a football club for children with special needs; Hastings Old Town Fishermen’s Museum and The Chasely Trust.

“The show, which is always held on the first Sunday of August, will attain its 48th year next year and we will welcome both the public and car owners.”
