Clever Trevor is in a Plasticine world of his own

Who would work 60 to 70 hours a week for seven weeks for £300? Even an illegal immigrant might baulk at an hourly rate of 66p.

So it would have to be someone who's either stupid or very passionate about their work. But which is Sussex animator Trevor Hardy?

He earned the princely sum of 300 for his film Moonlight Walk. "I was in here almost solidly Monday to Friday for seven weeks," says Trevor, who supplements his income by working weekends in a care home.

"I'd go indoors for some dinner, see Jazz, my boy, for a little while, put him to bed, then come back down here. I was working until one, two or three o'clock in the morning. Then I was back up at seven, because I take Jazz to school. It was just exhausting. And you get a cheque for 300 and you think, 'You're joking me '“ my paperboy's getting more.'"

Moonlight Walk was Trevor's most adventurous film to date and to produce the 3min 53sec animation for LA-based Filmaka in seven weeks he had to 'pump along like a steam train to get it done', especially as he works on his own.
