THEY called themselves the BAPS - Bald And Proud Of Sidley.

But the mother and daughter team of Jane and Kaylee Searston were happy to face the clippers to raise money for charity on Saturday.

The duo faced the public outside the Hungry Horse, on Turkey Road, to get matching 'number one' cuts in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief and the Tree of Hope.

Their hair was even used for charitable purposes, with the locks going to the Little Princes Trust - who provide wigs for children who have lost their hair to cancer.

A bald Jane said: "It's feeling quite cold actually!

"It was such fun. We're planning something else for next summer now.

"The choice of charities was easy. When we moved down here last year my husband, Marc, was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

"The Tree of Hope is getting a percentage because I love children - having a grandchild of my own - and not a lot of people seem to know about them."

"I think after all the money has come in we would have raised nearly 600."
