Clown cake adds sparkle

A CAKE fit for clowns and their guests was made for the first time by two Felpham sugarcraft masters.

Louise Hurst and Hayley Mills, of Cake Sparkle, were given the chance to create the confection after their tutor Julie Orton handed them her business.

Louise said: “Making the cake is a really good opportunity for us.

“I remember the clowns being here in the 1990s and Jeremy Beadle being with them. Other places have Birdman-type events, but we seem to be the only one with the clowns.”

Louise, 30, and Hayley, 31, spent two days making the three-tier square Madeira cake to feed 120 people at last weekend’s official reception.
