Co-op staff go bananas
STAFF at Heathfield Co-op went bananas to mark the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.
Staff joined more than 25,000 staff country-wide in the biggest ever simultaneous banana eating bonanza in the UK.
As well as taking part in the record breaking attempt, staff at the High Street store monkeyed around with giant inflatable bananas and dressed up in monkey masks and costumes.
Co-op manager Mark Shadwell said: 'We don't mind making monkeys of ourselves if it helps to promote this a-peeling initiative and encourage many more shoppers to support Fairtrade.'
