College plans memorial garden

A MEMORIAL garden is to be created at Uckfield Community College in memory of former students and staff.

An appeal has been launched to raise funds for the garden following the death of popular student Laurie Suckling in a road accident in February. It is planned to use an area of ground near the new library.

Press officer Geoff Evans said the college had lost several students in a short period of time. As well as Laurie, former student Robert Cox died in America and Year 11 student Ben Cavalli died after a long-standing illness. And only last year 16-year-old Danny Edwards died in a motorcycle accident.
