"They directed traffic in the Cants Lane junction area for about two hours, warning drivers heading down Junction Road they could not get through to World's End district," he said.

Phil said an injured woman was freed from the VW car, adding: "Traffic was disrupted for several hours while the woman was taken by ambulance to hospital, the crashed car recovered and broken glass cleared."

A Sussex Police spokesperson said the female driver of the vehicle ‘suffered minor injuries’ and the road was closed until 6.50pm.
