But before the tour officially kicks off, the pair are giving Eastbourne fans the chance to catch one of their intimate warm-up shows – called 25 Years of Reeves and Mortimer: The Poignant Moments – at the Congress Theatre on January 29 (7.20pm).

Reeves and Mortimer burst onto the comedy scene 25 years ago; with an anarchic brand of incomparable humour – they brought surreal comedy back to the mainstream in the biggest way since Spike Milligan.

From TV series’ to live tours and even a number one chart entry with Dizzy, Vic and Bob undoubtedly defined an era of brilliantly British comedy – and they continue to do so.

Their television appearances began on a late night Channel 4 show with the absurdly ludicrous Vic Reeves Big Night Out, which can only be described as a bizarre, childish and very funny variety show.

The chemistry between Vic and Bob was obvious and led onto a cornucopia of TV comedy including; The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer which followed a clip show format, Bang, Bang It’s Reeves & Mortimer and of course Shooting Stars which ran for 12 years and propelled the comedy partnership to a hollowed position of comedy royalty as they created a quiz show featuring celebrities like never before!

Comic boundaries continued to be pushed with Catterick and most recently House Of Fools – which prompted a social media stampede last year when it was announced that BBC Two wouldn’t be producing it anymore.

Although the pair have toured nationally before, this is the first time they will be seen live since 1995.

The tour will be a nostalgic moment in the annals of comedy history and a hotly anticipated ticket for fans hoping to catch a glimpse of some of their most popular characters, Man with the Stick, The Stotts, Mulligan and O’Hare, amongst others.

As always with Vic and Bob there will be some up-lifting moments, some musical moments, maybe some magic, several dancing styles, some show of physical strength but always some poignant moments.

Vic said, “Destiny has led us to this point in time. Now, finally the diversion of Reeves & Mortimer can be revealed in full extent through a cornucopia of preposterous doggerel etc.”

And Bob added, “I will ensure that Vic arrives at all dates smartly dressed and unarmed. I promise not to mention football, JLS or apricots during the performances. Should you choose to attend, be warned, I will be not be wearing a toupé.”

Tickets cost £21.50, call 412000.
