The county Times has received concerned calls from residents who have been worried about the future of the historic building.

In response to the concerns a spokesperson for HDC said: “Bills Restaurants leases the building from Horsham District Council and is responsible for its maintenance and repair.

“It is currently undertaking the cleaning of the exterior stonework and in connection with this has submitted details to the council and has been in liaison with the council’s Planning Department throughout.

“As landlord, the council will monitor the progress of the operation. There is no cost to the taxpayer in performing this operation.”
