Concerns overnew Rye pub door

FEARS have been raised that an application for a new side-door at the Standard Inn, in Rye’s Mint, could lead to anti-social behaviour.

The application was discussed by Rye Council’s planning committee on Monday.

Rye Mayor Cllr Shaun Rogers said: “It could cause a nuisance with people drinking and smoking in the alleyway next to the pub. It is easier to govern it with people on the highway.”

Cllr Michael Boyd said: “I understand the secondary access is for those using the B&B upstairs.”

The plans were approved.
