Continental club re-opens

The Continental nightclub has been re-opened having been closed for two years.

Approximately 180 guests attended the opening event which owner Sabina Silveri described as "amazing".

She said: "I want the club to be a place for people like me to go and chill out - and have a drink and a dance without any other complications."

The club is now aimed at the over-21's who must become members if they want to enjoy the latin and jazz nights on offer or the Saturday retro evening with music from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

The nightclub below That's Amore on the Marina was closed when fights and disturbances became too much to deal with, according to Sabina who took over the building with co-owner Fabio La Gamba just over three years ago.

"We had trouble here before," she commented.

"Every weekend there were fights."

The nightclub was opened with a special party featuring a buffet and giving guests the chance to look at the club downstairs.

"It was really good. We were really pleased with it, and there was very good reaction. Everyone there was really happy and there was a good atmosphere.

"I had a few people in the past asking if the nightclub would open - but I wasn't sure.

"We have made a few changes - basically we changed the decor of the place, and there are three different rooms in different colours.

"We are very pleased - it has been a good change for the Continental. It has a twist now, another flavour."
