Cookery students eager for Toque d'Or result

Three Bexhill youngsters are anxiously waiting to see if they have got through to the finals of a prestigious catering competition.

All students at Sussex Downs College, Sammie Dale, Hollie Buss and Ross Powell are in a team which served up a three course lunch to the judges of the Nestle Toque d'Or in the hope of making it through to the Grand Final at the Summer BBC Good Food Show.

If they win they will have to recreate their restaurant, Sussex Provenance, and serve 100 paying customers under the unforgiving gaze of a Michelin-starred chef.

Sammie, 19, lives in the Finches, while Hollie, also 19, is from Reginald Road. Ross is 18 years old and from Shepherds Close in Little Common.

The team was one of 16 catering colleges to have made it though to the nationwide semi-final. If they win this round, they will be competing against four other colleges to win the unannounced grand prize.
