Cooking up church funds

LYMINSTER S very own Delia Smith, Marlene Slegg, pictured left, is launching the revised edition of her fabulous cookery book in time for Christmas.

LYMINSTER S very own Delia Smith, Marlene Slegg, pictured left, is launching the revised edition of her fabulous cookery book in time for Christmas.

Married to the vicar of St Mary Magdalene Church, Lyminster, Marlene asked all her parishioners to contribute their favourite recipes for the book, which she hopes to sell to raise much-needed church funds.

She was particularly grateful to parishioners Sylvia Benham and Phil Jones for spending many hours typing and compiling the book.

Among the 260 recipes is a sumptuous selection of soups, starters, main courses and desserts, with vegetarians being well catered for.

Further on in the book, you ll find great party food and biscuits.

For those with particularly adventurous tastebuds, there s Vampire Chicken, which requires 35 to 40 cloves of garlic the recipe was submitted by the Bishop of Horsham!
