CORDON COPS SNIFF OUT CANNABIS FACTORY

Police standing on the Halland cordon, where the road was closed after the firework depot blast, sniffed out a cannabis factory at a nearby cottage.

The officers smelt cannabis as they stood at the cordon.

Their noses led to a cottage just inside the cordon and a 10pm on Wednesday night two people approached the cottage.

Police made a search of the outbuildings where they found more than 130 cannabis plants.

A man and woman were arrested and bailed for further enquiries.

DI Colin Dowle said: 'We have had a lot of success in dealing with cannabis factories within Wealden district and I am pleased that with officers situated right there they were able to close yet another down.'
