The fifteen local organisations that are set to receive cash are:

Uckfield Citizens Advice Bureau (13,500); Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society (2,200); Uckfield British Red Cross, House Bound Club (800); Uckfield Volunteer Bureau (8,500); Winged Fellowship Trust (100); TS Spartan NTC (500); Relate, South East Sussex (350) Wealden Branch - United Nations Association (200); Age Concern - Uckfield and District (300); Victim Support - Weald (400); Manor Close Resource Centre (120); National Child Birth - Uckfield Branch (150); Uckfield Music Club (100); Wealden Independent Mediation Service (3,000); Anchor Staying-Put (500).

A total of 30,720 had been recommended for grants by members of the council's finance sub-committee, out of an agreed ceiling of 39,500. A total of 41,120 had been requested.

Councillors Barrie Murray and Richard Green asked to be recorded against the decision to reduce the award to Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society to 2,200, from the 2,500 requested. Cllrs Murray and Hilary Cary also wished to be recorded against the decision to award Wealden Independent Mediation Service 3,000.

The members' recommendations will go to the policy and resources committee, who will in turn make recommendations to full council.

The policy and resources committee will also consider possible grant aid for the Uckfield Youth Trust.
