County looks at road tolls
An ambitious bid for government funding to pay for significant improvements to the public transport network along the West Sussex coast has been submitted by West Sussex County Council.
Built into the bid is consideration of a road pricing scheme, with one of three alternatives- tolls, congestion charging or pay for distance travelled by use of a device in the car. All are aimed at encouraging peak commuters to use public transport or park and ride schemes and would apply to the 7.15-9.30am period.
