Couple conquer Ben Nevis for breast cancer charity

RYE couple Sara and David Nixon scaled the highest mountain in the UK to raise £1,400 raised for Breast Cancer Care

The pair fulfilled their pledge to trek up Ben Nevis despite rain, strong wind and even sleet as they reached the summit having started the day with clear skies and sunshine. David said “It was a long day, we were on the mountain for around 11 hours walking as a group.

“Thankfully the cloud drifted away while on the peak so our effort was rewarded with some great views. It’s amazing how dramatically the weather changes as you climb”.

Sara added, “Coming down was harder than going up, there was a fair amount of rain by then so underfoot was slippery. The day after us another group did the trek and Breast Cancer Care hope to raise around £100,000 from the Ben Nevis challenge weekend. We would like to thank the many people who have helped us raise £1,400 for the charity”.
