A new free five week course will support people in making small health changes to improve their quality of life and is suitable for all age and abilities.

The course lasts for 5 weeks and is held at St Matthews church hall in Hastings.

Each week covers a different key health issue such as heart health, Type two Diabetes and stress and participants are encouraged to take part in a supervised gentle walk each week gradually increasing their activity levels over the course duration.

Participants also gain access to the local Health Trainers service and learn to cook healthy dishes each week that they can then take away and enjoy at home.

The course is being run by Debby Anderson with the support of The Education Futures Trust, a local charity that aims to improve the life chances of children, families and those living in Hastings, and Rother by helping people to build resilience and self-sufficiency to create sustainable change.

The trust also runs courses throughout the year in local woodlands and natural spaces with introductions to conservation work and bushcraft skills.

The aim of these ‘Branching Out’ short outdoor courses is to improve physical and mental wellbeing through positive outdoor activities.The Trust also aims to provide support in advancing the education and development of persons working in schools or the field of education

The five week health course is completely free and enrolment for the next one starts on Monday November 9 at 9.45 at St Matthews church hall. To join should contact Mel at Education Futures Trust on 01424 722241 to book a place.
