Crack down on using mobile phones

TOO many motorists are still using hand-held mobile phones while driving on West Sussex roads, endangering other road users- despite tougher penalties introduced by police on February 27 2007.

East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton this week branded these drivers as 'completely irresponsible' and said that they were taking up valuable police time that should be spent dealing with violent crime.

He said:" It is very sad that, despite all the high profile cases of fatalities caused by irresponsible drivers concentrating on their mobile phones and other electronic devices, rather than on the road ahead, that too many of these drivers are continuing to flout the law."

But offenders can now expect tough action with Sussex police is cracking down on offenders using mobile phones in their vehicles.
