CRIME FILE: Vandalism and thefts in the Worthing area

VANDALS have been targeting cars and buildings across Worthing.

Dome damaged

VANDALS scratched a tag into a window at the entrance to the Dome Cinema in Worthing.

The damage to the window at the Marine Parade cinema, which is about eight inches square, is likely to cost around 900 to get repaired.

It happened between 5pm Wednesday, January 28, and 9am on Thursday, January 29.

Brick smash

THE windscreen of a parked car was twice smashed with a brick during a five day period.

The first incident happened overnight on January 25, while the second occurred between 6pm and 6.45pm on Friday.

The car was parked in Mansfield Road, Worthing, both times.

Mirrors cracked

A CAR'S windscreen and its nearside wing mirror were smashed by vandals in Goring.

It happened between 7pm on Saturday, January 31, and the morning of Sunday, February 1, in Nutley Crescent.

Another wing mirror was smashed off a parked car on Saturday, January 31.

The black Peugeot 205 was parked in Selden Way at around 6.30pm when it happened.

Spray painters

GRAFFITI designs have been scrawled on a BT exchange box in Wallace Avenue, Goring.

It was reported to police at 11.05am on Monday, February 1, after residents saw two men in their 30s drawing on the box.

One of the men was pushing a shopping trolley and had a beard.

The other was around 6ft tall, was wearing a blue jacket, jeans and a white hat and also had on trainers.

Fence climbing

WOULD-be thieves climbed a 6ft high fence to get inside the Mitsubishi Garage in Findon Road.

The attempted break in happened overnight on Monday, February 2, when two windows were smashed at the garage.

Sergeant Ian Kerr of Worthing police said the offenders were unable to get inside the garage and nothing was taken.

Sat nav stolen

THIEVES stole a satellite navigation system from a parked car in Worthing.

They smashed a window to get inside the car, which was parked in Clarendon Road, between 11pm on Friday, January 30, and 6am on Saturday, January 31.

Bikes taken

TWO bikes were stolen from a shed in Elm Grove, Worthing, sometime within the last six weeks.

The homeowner went out to the shed on Friday, January 30, the first time he had looked inside since December 23, last year, to find that two bicycles had been taken.

B&Q break-in

THE Worthing branch of DIY giant B&Q was broken into during the night.

Police were called to the Lyons Farm store at 1.40am on Tuesday, February 3, after the alarm was activated.

When they, and the store manager arrived on the scene, the front doors to the store were wide open but nobody was inside.

It is not yet known what was taken, as the store needs to do a stoke take to work out what is missing.

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in relation to any of these crimes, is asked to call police on 0845 6070 999.
