A passer-by told SussexWorld that as many as seven police cars, including armed police, were spotted outside the White Harte Hotel on Tuesday, January 10.

Sussex police officers were called to a report of an altercation at the premises in Lewes High Street at about 1:40pm.

Police said a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody at this stage.
