Arun scam warning
AN ELDERLY Arun resident was targeted by a bogus insurance company, and wants to warn others.
The widow, who lives on her own, was first sent a letter asking her to settle a debt of £50, and then received a telephone call, telling her that she was in fact owed a refund of £3,000, but needed to make an up-front payment of £155.
Police Community Support Officer Michelle Davies said: “This is a very common type of scam.
“It sounds too good to be true, and in almost all cases it will be.”
