Cancer remission teenager's bike stolen in Emsworth

An appeal has been launched to find a bike that was donated to a young man by a cancer charity after it was stolen in Emsworth last week.

Adam Brombley locked up the bicycle given to him by Cylists Fighting Cancer at Emsworth station on Tuesday July 12, but returned to find it gone, just three days before his birthday.

The 17-year-old, who is in remission from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, had enjoyed riding the Dawns Giro 500 bike to college for the last few months.

Adam’s mother Julie said he was ‘shocked and stunned’ by the loss of the bike, which is his pride and joy.

She said: “It’s very frustrating. He’s only had the bike three months, it’s given him a completely new lease of life.

“He absolutely loved buzzing around on it and it’s gone.”

She explained that despite Adams best efforts at securing the bike in a designated shed, the thief or thieves removed the lock and took the bike from the top rack, along with Adam’s helmet.

The road bike had been a gift from the charity, which aims to support those who have cancer at a young age, and had a sticker on it with the charity’s name.

A keen sports fan, Adam is currently studying for a BTEC sports diploma at Havant college and wants to do a charity bike ride this October.

The theft has been reported to the British Transport Police and the family would be grateful for any help finding the missing bicycle.
