John Gibbs, 50, of Shanklin Close, Eastbourne, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday 11 November. He sexually abused a young girl for five years has now been given a 14-year prison sentence after an investigation by safeguarding detectives from Sussex Police. He was found guilty of two counts the rape and three counts of sexual assault on the child who was under 13 at the time. He will be a registered sex offender for life and was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to last until further court decision, prohibiting him from any contact with his victim or her family, and from living in any household where there are children under 16.

Lumture Spahiu was jailed after he was seen using a taxi to complete drug deals in Brighton. Spahiu was using a Brighton and Hove taxi as a passenger in the Bevendean area at 8.30pm on September 25. Spahiu, of no fixed address, appeared before Lewes Crown Court on November 10, and was sentenced to 22 months in prison. During the investigation it was also found that Spahiu is an immigration absconder, and he now faces deportation to Albania at the end of his sentence.

Michael Wilkinson, 36, of Bexhill, was sentenced to a total of six years imprisonment at Hove Crown Court on 10 November, having admitted inciting and facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child under 13, making indecent images of children and possessing prohibited and extreme images. He paid to receive photos of sexual abuse of a child in the Philippines, each one posed as he required, is now starting a six-year prison sentence, following an investigation by Sussex Police detectives working with the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) and officers in the Philippines National Police. He will be a registered sex offender for life and was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) which severely restricts his access to children and digital devices for life, It also imposes a five-year travel restriction order on him from from the day of his release, which police can apply to renew every five years.

Devon Locke, who seriously assaulted another man over an eight-year grudge, was found guilty of committing grievous bodily harm by a majority verdict at Portsmouth Crown Court on Thursday 11 November and sentenced to three years imprisonment. t follows an incident which occurred in Felpham on the evening of Friday 13 September, 2019. The victim, a local man now aged 52, was walking home along Flansham Lane when he was approached by Locke, whom he knew from several years back. The 26-year-old builder, of nearby Virginia Gardens, assaulted him, before accusing him of not apologising to his sister over an alleged prank that went wrong in 2013. He then further assaulted him, before the victim was able to continue his way home. However, before he safely returned, Locke again assaulted him, causing the victim to fall to the floor. Locke was arrested in connection with the matter and denied committing grievous bodily harm, but was found guilty following a trial. Further to his immediate prison sentence, he was als
