Ryan Evans, 27, of Lark Rise in Crawley, was jailed for eight months on January 7 after assaulting a police officer. Evans was reported to have been wielding a knife in Gales Drive in the early hours of December 10 when challenged by police. He started to run but was quickly stopped by PC Claire Harrison and police dog Polly. Evans was found with a six-inch kitchen knife. While being taken to the police vehicle, he tried to headbutt officers before kicking out at one of them, hitting him in the chest. He was arrested ad charged with possession of an offensive weapon in public and assaulting an emergency worker.

Tara Perry, 33, of Priory Road in Hastings, was jailed for six years and three months after robbing a local man in a mobility scooter who had tried to help her. On August 10 last year, Perry approached the 57-year-old man in Church Road and he agreed to give her a lift on his scooter to the police station, Warrior Square railway station, probation offices and Waldegrave Street, where she demanded money, threw him off his scooter and stole £380 of cash. On January 15, she pleaded guilty to robbery and was jailed for six years and three months, two years of which to be served on licence.
