17. Paul Hickey, Worthing
Fifty-five-year-old Paul Hickey, of no fixed address, refused to stop drinking in an alcohol-free Worthing town centre area and attacked police officers and PCSOs. On May 17, PCSOs spoke to him for drinking alcohol in Denton Gardens in Beach Parade, but he refused to give up the alcohol and tried to make off. Police officers arrived to arrest him for public order offences, at which point he assaulted them. Cannabis was found on him during a search. On May 19, Hickey was convicted of/pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, threatening behaviour, failing to comply with the PSPO, and possession of cannabis. He was jailed for 24 weeks.
