Man allegedly spat in Chichester police officer's faces as they arrested him

Two Chichester police officers had their faces spat on as they carried out their duty last night (Monday, August 24).

Police officers attended an incident in West Street, Chichester, last night and when they began to arrest a man for being drunk and disorderly he allegedly spat in two officer's faces.

He was further arrested for the assault and has now been charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place and two counts of assaulting a police constable.

Joshua Jackman, 31, of no fixed address has since been bailed and is due to appear at Worthing Magistrates Court on November 24.

Officers Tweeted about the incident last night and said: "We've attended a report of a drunk male in the city centre. He became confrontational and was arrested for being drunk and disorderly. He then went on to spit in the face of two officers. Which he was further arrested for."
