Man arrested after incident above Eastbourne pub

A man has been arrested following an incident above an Eastbourne pub last night (Thursday, April 29).

Officers were called to reports a man smashing windows above The Eagle pub in South Street before 6.30pm.

Police later entered the building and the man was taken into custody.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police were called to a report of a man smashing windows from the inside of a premises above a pub building in South Street, Eastbourne, just before 6.30pm on Thursday (29 April). The man had refused to leave and the area around the building was cordoned off.

"Officers went into the building and safely detained the man who is now in custody. No one was hurt and South Street with the junction of Gildredge Road which was closed during the incident has now re-opened."
