A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called to a report of a single vehicle collision in London Road, Brighton at the Patcham Bypass on Thursday 28 May at around 9.20pm.

“It was reported that a car collided with the central reservation in the road.

“A 50-year-man was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit, failing to co-operate with a preliminary test, and assaulting a constable in the execution of his or her duty.
